There are so many lipsticks out there these days that trying to decide which one you should buy, try, or skip is down right hard. There are new trends just about every other week and how are we to know what we should be trying out and what we should be avoiding?
We should always wear shades that make us feel good and beautiful about ourselves, but we also have to remember that there are do’s and don’ts for every skin type.
IF YOU HAVE PALE SKIN, nude colors rock on your skin. Anything that mimics your skin tone or something peachy or orange based works great. If you want to wow a crowd, try a red lipstick. You lucky girls can’t go wrong with that.
DO NOT use dark shades like brown or burgundy. It doesn’t work well, there is too much contrast, and you’ll end up looking more pale.
We recommend MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo.
IF YOU HAVE DARK SKIN, coral shades just make your beautiful skin pop. So don’t be afraid to try out that new orange lipstick, you’ll work it!
DO NOT use chalky colors. Your skin is beautiful and dark and you need to show it off by using colors that are bright and fun. Anything milky will be too contrasting.
We recommend Make Up For Ever lipstick in Fluorescent Orange
IF YOU HAVE OLIVE SKIN, you can pretty much experiment with every color in the rainbow (ok, not really, but you get the point). Corals are really hot this season though so you may want to give that a try. AND if you want to dress it up one day, blue-based reds work really well for you.
DO NOT use purples. PLEASE. You have yellow undertones to your skin and purples will only emphasize that, making you look kind of sickly. Also, browns are too monochromatic so don’t bore us all with that one.
We recommend Revlon Colorstay Overtime in Constantly Coral
SOME LIP TIPS that should work for just about everyone:
- Gloss those babies up if you want them to look bigger. That will always be a good trick.
- Don’t be afraid to try out a new shade that may be all the rage at the moment. Just look for the shade that has a base that works with your skin to avoid bringing out undertones that are better left hidden.
- Also BRIGHT=BIG DARK=SMALL when it comes to lipstick. Keep that in mind if you have teeny tiny lips or big voluptuous smackers.
Just remember to have fun and if you do end up messing up, remember you can always wipe that shade off and try a completely different one. It’s just that easy!
Love this post !!! You’ve spread some light on a very intimidating makeup for me:)
