With these easy updos (with instructions) you are bound to leave the house with a beautiful updo in five minutes or less!
TOP BUN
This is not the ordinary bun your fifth grade teacher used to wear; this is the much updated version of that. It’s everywhere on the streets of New York as well as fashion shows all over the world, so you know you’ve got yourself a winner here.
Pull hair into a loose ponytail at the top of your head. Twist hair around ponytail, creating a messy bun and tuck in the end of your bun with bobby pins.
Once you have that, it is your job to make it look messy. So work your fingers into your hair gently to loosen up the bun so it appears a bit untidy.
Mist entire head with hairspray and you are ready to hit the streets.
CHIGNON
This is the perfect updo for a romantic date night or any other outing where you might want to look your best but not spend a lot of time on your hair. This can also be so versatile because you can do it with bangs, curly hair, or even with the front pulled back. So many choices!
HOW TO:
Before you start, make sure you have tamed any frizziness or flyaways by using some mousse or serum. Once you’ve taken care of that, pull your hair into a low ponytail, leaving your bangs loose so you can work on them later. Like you did with the top bun, wrap your hair around the elastic band to create a messy coiled bun. Once the chignon is made, tuck the end of it under the elastic band or with bobby pins. Make sure you have secured the chignon well to avoid it coming undone quickly.
You can now either straighten the bangs and do a side-swept look, or you can pin them back freely around your ears.
Seriously, the sky is the limit when it comes to this style; there are so many variations that can be tried.
MESSY SIDE PONYTAIL
This can be everyday hair. People will think you spent more time than you actually did on it and you will feel so good walking around knowing you’ve fooled just about everyone.
HOW TO:
Having day-old hair is ideal for this style so that it has body and texture. Make a deep side part, which you can make extra straight if your heart so desires. Backcomb the top back of your hair (a lot) until it’s frizzy and kind of has a life of its own. Now, try to hide the frizzy part by lightly combing the very top layer of your hair until it is a little smooth. Remember you still want it to look messy so don’t get too carried away with the smoothing away.
Secure the backcombed section by pinning it at the back of your head. Take all of your hair and make a low side ponytail by tightening the elastic band as much as you can. This will create texture and size at the top of the head. Now take a small piece of hair and wrap it around the elastic band to hide it and bobby pin it behind the ponytail. And as a last touch, gently massage the back of your head with your fingers in an upward motion to create a little more poof and you’re done!
These hairstyles are all the rage right now and as of today you no longer have a reason not to try them. They are easy and so fashionable; you’re bound to get compliments all day. Remember that adding little touches like a flower or a jeweled pin can make a huge effect and take any of these looks from plain to fab!
